It would be relatively easy to take over Transdnistria, but also politically very complicated.

Nominally, from the point of international law, it is territory of Moldavia, so UA would have to cease the liberated/occupied Russian territory to Moldavia, not to Russia. So the negotiating value of this area is uncertain. This is why Russia don't even waste much resources to protect it (also, it would be logistically very challenging... it probably already is).
