About ten years ago my cousin's father-in-law, who lived ~150 miles south of the Texas-Mexico border, returned to his small ranch to find that it had been invaded by a bunch of men in trucks with guns. He was informed that his ranch belonged to them now. He was then taken away, never to be heard from again. His family was informed by one of his ranch hands, but no authority in the US would do anything because it happened in Mexico, and no authority in Mexico would do anything because they can't.
