To which we posed the question that copying something together from smaller snippets would eliminate copyright by your logic (This is the whole argument of "clean room implementation" which comes up time and time again. A point that becomes moot depending on which side of the whole copyright debate one finds themselves).

Furthermore from what we can see you wrote:

This is not something we argue against. Certain things cannot be copyrighted because they are trivial to implement. This however does not change the fact that one has to respect the copyright of code that one is copying (as to how enforceable that is in a court of law... is a totally different matter).
