Tbf I'm not sure anyone could sell The Name of the Rose to a traditional large publishing house in today's market — I think, in the Anglophone market, an agent or editor would want it to be rewritten in parallel timeline so a modern researcher or descendant undergoes their own exploration plot in the modern day. (Or the researcher and descendant have sex while uncovering the past, I guess.) On the other hand it might have a better chance with small and self-publishing, which is where I'm seeing the most interesting historical fiction nowadays. Not sure what indie publishing looks like in Sweden, though.
