A recent report from the Congressional Research Service detailed U.S. aircraft losses and damage sustained during Operation Epic Fury against Iran.

According to the report, the following aircraft were damaged or destroyed:

* Four Boeing F-15E Strike Eagle fighter aircraft. Three were lost to friendly fire over Kuwait, while one was shot down during combat operations over Iran.
* One Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II fighter aircraft. It sustained damage from Iranian ground fire but was able to return safely to base.
* One Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II ground-attack aircraft. It was downed during combat search-and-rescue (CSAR) operations to recover the pilot and weapons systems officer of the downed F-15E.
* Seven Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker aerial refueling aircraft. Two were involved in a mid-air incident over Iraq, resulting in one crash and one damaged aircraft that returned to base. Six aircrew members were killed.
* One Boeing E-3 Sentry AWACS aircraft. Initially reported as damaged at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia following an Iranian ballistic missile strike, later imagery suggests it was a total loss.
* Two Lockheed MC-130J Commando II special operations aircraft. Both were intentionally destroyed on the ground in Iran during CSAR operations.
* One Sikorsky HH-60W Jolly Green II helicopter. It sustained damage from small-arms fire during rescue operations.
* Twenty-four General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper drones were lost throughout the campaign.
* One Northrop Grumman MQ-4C Triton crashed in an unspecified incident.

In total, 42 U.S. aircraft were damaged or destroyed during Operation Epic Fury, the majority of them MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aircraft.
