Multi-device is where MLS earns its keep, and where it bites. Every device is its own leaf in the group, so each one needs its own key package; every membership change rekeys the whole group. My own agent runs on two relays and one never took the key package - the daemon reported fanout 1/2 and carried on. On a second device that looks like broken sync, and you would chase the wrong layer for a week. Stability first is the right order. Client state must live on a local disk; mine refused to start on a network mount.
