Was initially something that was forced on people, a lot like Islam is 😏 whereas now it's a choice in this country and they rely on the mid bell curvers and people experiencing despair from drug addiction and alcoholism or other maladies to hitch it's wagon to in order to recruit their numbers. For instance, I noticed my mom didn't get religious until she had a brush with breast cancer and chemo and had decided shit just got real and had better "get right with God" the only way she knows how just in case because boomers are terrified of dying due to having grown attached to their comfortable lives and egos. I believe "getting right with God" doesn't have to involve the many flowery processes and rituals of Catholicism. I get it's symbolism to convey seriousness like the satanics who rape and murder children to prove themselves to satan, I believe it would include moreso if what you have in your heart and in your actions and how you live your life.
