A take I really disagree with is: “streaming has spelled death for owning art.” The take basically speaks to how we no longer own CDs, mixtapes, tapes, etc. I think that’s the weakest criticism of the current ecosystem. Tbh I do not want to own a lot of books and CDs. It’s wasteful. I would much rather have access to a well-resourced and well stocked library and borrow things from it. I understand owning a few books/movies that will be re-read/watched again and again. Or albums that will be listened to in loop. But most times we don’t do that.

It is also better for the planet that we do not hoard so many things.
