Without that ARPANET thingy from back then, we would now live in quite a different world with business-only networks based on costly, closed OSI- and ITU-defined protocols like FTAM, X.400 etc.

People would still use dial-up modems, BBSes and UUCP and Trump would be president anyway, having turned CompuServe and Usenet evil.
