I just found this article 👇 [1] which reinforced what I was getting at.
In the summer I started as an IT administrator at a small school where an omada network had already been built. I needed to change the VLANs and set up new rules between them.
I didn't realize that switch ACLs are not stateful and assumed that the "omada controller" would set rules not only on the siwtch but also on the router. But it didn't. It took a long time before the network started working again.
At home I use opnSense and unifi switches, APs and I am very satisfied, I recommend it for small businesses and also for homes where you have different network devices.
