there is no evidence that democratically-run companies are outcompeted by capitalist companies. To the contrary, worker co-ops are more resilient once formed, and have a lower failure rate than employer-employee businesses. Withholding property from the market is called the holdout problem. That problem is solvable with common ownership where buyers have an option to compel possessors to transfer property.
