What's Going On With Shipping reports that the US is trying to wreck an up-coming agreement by the International Maritime Organisation for net zero by 2050. They are threatening more tariffs on countries which support the adoption of the agreement.
This is primarily because the agreement will require many older ships to be retired or modified and new ones to be built, and the US has very little ship building anymore because capitalism. 60% of ship building is in China. The other big builders are Japan and South Korea.
