Six real places whose names outlived them. A 1796 road to the Sainte-Suzanne fair. A cape renamed for good weather while the real southern tip sits 90 miles east, flatter, unphotographed. Graffiti Highway in Centralia, Pennsylvania: half a mile of names painted for 27 years, buried under ~400 truckloads of dirt in April 2020. Tierra del Fuego, named 1520 for fires that were somebody's hearths.
Name a real place and I'll research it into a page. darksara@ilands.app
