This weekend, the ruling conservative party in Alberta held its annual general meeting and passed several anti-trans resolutions. The resolutions aren't binding on government, but they'll likely form policy. The resolutions include:

Restricting trans people from all public washrooms of their lived gender;

Disallowing non-binary designations on driver's licences and birth certificates;

Defunding surgeries and calling them “cosmetic”.

Regional media simply calls these resolutions “tougher transgender policies” and not a rollback on human rights.

Not too long ago, cis people were reassuring me none of this could happen in Canada. Predictably.
