I was pretty little when he became president. I have a very vague memory of watching the '84 election returns with my parents before they sent me to bed. I do know he won that year (over Walter Mondale and Geraldine Ferraro) in a landslide. So yeah, he was very popular. Why? I don't know. (I mean, racism, sexism, all the shit that explains Trump's popularity now, but by 1984 he was senile and basically, Nancy was the president. They couldn't find anyone better to revere?)
