I don't think Vance, Heritage Foundation and the billionaire class worry about the public opinion because SCOTUS is on their side: Roberts’s Court has been granting Trump’s requests first and seek legal justification later since Trump 2.0. They will find legal coverage to kill any dissidents.
They only need to keep Trump alive for one more year. Then the VP can take over the remaining term, and "run" for two full terms after this, securing minimum three consecutive GOP rule.
