We've had a barn cat for at least 16 years, maybe longer. Her name was Jasmine. Our daughter named her. Jasmine was smart. She knew how to stay close to the protection of our dogs and not get nabbed by coyotes or other predators. Jasmine came down with cancer and while only trusting our daughter, started trusting my spouse and me. She let us pet her and would sit on our laps. As long as she kept eating we vowed not to pit her down. I found her under in the barn today
