I homeschool my kid.
Today we trained badminton.
She fell again & again.
The real lesson was not badminton though…
Today she learned the deeper you fall…the stronger you become.
The faster you fail…the higher you rise.
So fall fast & fail often I said.
But listen darling you always have to wipe your mouth and keep going no matter what.
Later today she said something that melted my heart & stopped time for a second as she taught me something more important.
She: “Daddy I’m so happy I can spend so much time with you. I really love it.”
During that conversation I asked her why she actually didn’t like kindergarden back then. (It took me a few months to finally pull her out)
She paused for a second thinking and replied:
“I don’t know daddy.
I just didn’t like being caged in a room I wasn’t allowed to leave.”
Silence.
That one hit deep.
Still digesting her response & thinking…
How many kids do we traumatize by separating them from their parents and locking them up early…calling it education?
She changed me.
I always thought I was carrying her on my shoulders.
Truth is she carries me on hers.
