The very large crude carrier (VLCC) Sidr appears to have nearly come to a stop while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, with its AIS data currently indicating a speed of approximately 0.6 knots.
The vessel is currently operating in an area where several commercial ships traveling along the U.S.-designated route through Omani waters have previously been targeted by Iranian forces.
The reason for the vessel’s sudden reduction in speed remains unknown.
