**Unfucking B41 zomboid thread**

The game's coded by retards (bongs and leafs) but it can be partially unfucked, at least enough to work on this lapotato. So if you aren't trying to play it on a toaster, fridge or iphone it should work pretty smoothly if you go through this list.

**Step 1: Manual install mods**
Click 'em and follow what they say, it's just drag and drop file replacing.

I use potato/lowest settings, it doesn't impact much gameplay wise (at worst you're trying to fight a reactionless black zombie shadow here and there) but helps the FPS a lot.

The other performance mods in the pack should install automatically

**Step 2: Uncap RAM usage**
The devs say the game needs 8GB on steam, yet limited it to 1-3GB and one core. Again they're fucking retards.
Follow this little guide to partially fix that (RAM anyway, couldn't find a way to get it to use more cores without it breaking)

**Step 3: Options**
Usual shit here really, there are some hardware specific tricks but I'm not doing a comprehensive guide as it'll just confuse everyone including me. https://www.destructoid.com/best-fps-settings-for-project-zomboid/ I used this guide for mine I think, but the top 2 zoom settings are really fucking useful for driving fast and not crashing. And there was one setting that fucked with how custom tilesets displayed so I'll throw in screenshots of my settings.

**Step 4: Set priority to high (but not realtime)**
I use procexp, but use whatever works for you/your OS. Realtime causes lag for some reason that I cba to find out. Also turning everything but steam/zomboid off helps me a shitload, private window for voice chat or music (I haven't bothered since we switched to steam calls)

That hopefully should work, the main lingering issues are vehicle lag (even in vanilla singleplayer) and starlink's ports being icy as fuck but you can just be patient and those resolve themselves eventually. If you're playing with us for the first time you might want to load the modpack up and run it on solo so that it downloads and install properly. Workshop can get fucky sometimes, if it's not working verify files through steam.
