on the one hand, the Fossil codebase is incredibly opinionated and has some surprising takes on C formatting one would not expect from an inveterate practitioner of Tcl (positive affect)
on the other hand, it's very simple and internally consistent in a way all other projects should emulate imo. i've only had to make two tiny changes to the codebase to bend it to my will
