The difficulties integrating my Nest thermostat with Home Assistant, and keeping it connected longer than a few weeks at a time, is why I gave up my Nest Thermostat.
I switched to Ecobee, but it still requires cloud apparently, and Ecobee started doing really shady things.
I now have a Honeywell Z-Wave thermostat and it’s way better.
