Millions of Social Security's Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients won't get a benefit check this month due to a scheduling quirk. The lack of payment could surprise some beneficiaries. SSI payments for September were sent on August 30, with the next deposit on October 1. Meanwhile, Social Security retirement benefits will be paid as usual. A new online iClaim system will simplify the SSI application process, aiming to make it less burdensome and more accessible, starting in December.
