This is ʻāhinahina. The Haleakalā silversword. It's my alma mater Chaminade's school mascot. One of the prettiest plants anywhere. It grows near the top of a volcano on Maui, Hawaii, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The leaves are covered with little pretty silver hairs. This one is blooming like crazy. Its flowers are a beautiful reddish purple.
