tbh the NetBSD position - that AI generated code cannot possibly be regarded as anything other than tainted, purely from a licence point of view, and thus must be precluded from their codebase, is the minimum¹ credible position for any open source codebase to adopt. not doing so is just storing up trouble for the future, when someone finally does force an AI company to disclose exactly what its LLMs were trained on.
it's ironic, but not altogether surprising, that going open source is probably the best way to ensure you're not running autocorrect-generated slushcode.
