Electricity can be very dangerous. This is why it's important to properly secure electrical circuits. Even though the service conductors are insulated, vibrations and movement due to wind and rain will eventually erode the insulation leaving the conductors bare. During heavy rain events the rainwater itself could become energized causing a potentially lethal shock to anyone in contact with the watershed. Exposed conductors also pose a risk for fire. The minimum distance required for a service conductor to pass over a house is 3ft. If your service conductors are less than 3ft from the surface of your roof, you should consult a qualified electrician for evaluation.
