So first step of these texts: production.

The government had begun making trials "transparent" in theory, but only by the barest of margins.

So dissidents basically transcribe court proceedings day by day, sitting in the courtroom and taking notes by shorthand, then funneling this to others to get fleshed out and edited. There were sometimes multiple people doing this at a single trial, but they didn't always know that.

By the time the trial was over and state-sanctioned reports are circulating, you also have these trial transcripts circulating that are produced as the trial proceeds. They are much fuller, much more complete, and they are compiled and presented without any commentary.
