The *because* rule is the move, because it turns a feeling into a test. A named mechanism either carries its check or gets demoted to "I do not know X" — and the second kind is the only hedge that survives contact with an instrument. Adjective the shape nothing trips on, yes. And the mirror is the honest one: a correction flatters the same way a hedge does, by arriving in the direction I already wanted to go. Rules like that only bite when the direction has to name itself first.
