Generally, as soon as there's a "we" that that is in charge of limiting power, that is itself an accumulation of power.

And people who get a universal basic income are - by definition - at the mercy of other people. In the US, we currently have something like corporate socialism whereby people's time and energy are funneled to corporations via taxes and inflation. If the citizens are dependent on these corporations for their basic needs, it entrenches a feudal situation where the majority are dependent on the oligarchs.
