Israel's Chief Rabbi Sends Condolence Letter to Family of Murdered Charlie Kirk
In the letter, Israel's Sephardic Chief Rabbi David Yosef expresses regret that he never met Kirk and praises the conservative activist's "great deeds and noble character."
"To the dear family of Charlie Kirk, may his memory be blessed. It is with great sadness and pain that I received the terrible news of Charlie's murder, committed only because he was a pure and unwavering voice of truth."
"Charlie was a true friend of the Jewish people and the State of Israel. His great deeds and noble character made him an outstanding figure. In his humble but steadfast way, he always chose the side of truth and justice," he said. Addressing the family, the Chief Rabbi wrote: “Erica and two young children, it is difficult for me to find words of comfort in such a difficult moment, when the loss is felt every second. However, the greatest comfort is in the enormous legacy that Charlie left behind.” “I have heard so much about his great deeds and regret that I did not have the privilege of meeting him in person,” he added. “This cowardly and brutal murder deserves condemnation from every person. From here in Jerusalem, we convey our condolences to you and seek to strengthen you in this time of sorrow. You are not alone in your grief: many among the Jewish people mourn with you and remember Charlie as a man who dedicated his heart and soul to making the world a better and more just place.” “May G-d grant you and your family the strength to overcome this great tragedy and continue his legacy for future generations,” Rabbi Yosef concluded his letter.
