Hot take. LED status indicators on devices are often (though not always) difficult to read. Charging lights make it hard to keep a bedroom properly dark at night unless you carefully cut little foil squares and neatly tape them over the LED. But then you lose the usefulness of a charging indicator!
My solution: replace most LED interfaces with little epaper displays. No light pollution, and clearer UX. Displays can spell out what's going on in words, like "Charging (fast, 35W)" or "Battery 69% (3h35m left)". Some devices need to work well in low light, so their epaper can have a warm backlight, as a treat, when you push the button or flip the switch.
