i've been tinkering with something similar, won some btc from balaji for the idea a while back
this enables a meta layer of communication and deniable payment routing and fee forwarding resistant to known methods of sabotage
for example, a timed drop in either a sound or visual bursts, picked up and forwarded by an agnostic receiver
you could receive discounts at POS using phyacial cash and never know why, simply by sending and receiving packets from various locations
