In the UK, we seem to have the Starmerite approach of following the window as it shifts to the right, versus the Corbynite attitude of 'Jerusalem or bust'. I guess these correspond to Tony Benn's 'weathervanes' and 'signposts': Attitudes you might hope could coexist in the same party and arrive at a practical and electable compromise in terms of policy. Except they don't. ☹️
