Trofim Lysenko was a Russian "scientist" who was an adamant Stalinist. He was basically put in charge of Russian agro-science due to his pseudo science being easier to understand than actual science, which was - to put it in modern terms 'woke'.
He's seen as singlehandedly setting back Russian science and agriculture generations and costing the lives of millions.
This is pretty much the entire "MAGA" ideology, except that guy was a true believer, while the maga 'leaders' are primarily grifters and thieves in addition to being the normal opsequious syncophants.
