Acid reflux is mainly due to irritated esophagus, and is initiated when stomach acid flows back in the wrong direction. In my experience, it generally happened when laying down shortly after eating (I mistakenly did this when trying to meet daily calorie/protein targets). The supplement TUDCA helps a lot, since it accelerates digestion.
