I think most people are far over estimating how much blastr is doing or effecting the network. It's turned into the boogieman but the reality is that it still has the same number of events that it's done a year ago and there's been almost no shilling of it since (and probably no new users since middle of last year).

There's other reasons why events propagate across the network but either way it's a good thing.

I'm willing to bet if I turned off blastr for one week, there would not be a noticable change.
