I know nothing about (cyber)security, but whenever I read something or talk to someone, it's all very complex and any change can bring a lot of unintended consequences and break something. So this and the aura of black arts can make sec pros very unaproachable when it comes to any changes.

Because of the nature of my work is often "feels oriented", I'm sometimes "forced" to try things that from experience should work, but end up working very well (to my surprise). So I have to constantly remind myself not to insist on staying in my comfort spot all the time. But it's (the comfy zone) still important "compass" that defines the character of my work.
