➤ Gasoline accounts for $52.56 billion of that burden. The national average rose from $2.982 to $4.095 a gallon, an increase of 37.3%.

➤ Diesel accounts for another $43.61 billion. Its average price climbed from $3.670 to $5.633 a gallon, up 53.5%.
