this is why I have a hard time believing in dragons as a concept. Meat farming requires a huge amount of resources, and to dedicate it to maintaining even a single dragon seems risky. And even if you can slot an artificial cattle farm industry into your story, presumably the dragons existed before they were domesticated, so what kind of world was that? And why did humans consider it worthwhile to continue the species vs cull them and free up the resources for their own survival?
