On May 2nd, 2025, the German Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz (BfV, Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution) declared the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD, Alternative for Germany) as right-wing extremist (rechtsextremistisch) in a roughly 1,000 page report. The report describes the structure and beliefs of the AfD and how the BfV finds their beliefs incompatible with the German constitution.
