⚡️🦠 NEW - Asian airports are beginning to implement COVID-style screenings in response to a Nipah virus outbreak.
The virus can spread between animals and people, specifically from fruit bats and pigs.
The countries currently implementing the screenings include Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Pakistan, according to Reuters.
The virus was first detected in West Bengal, India.
The death rate from the Nipah virus ranges from 40% to 75%, and there is reportedly no way to treat it.
There are currently only two confirmed infections. India claims it has contained the outbreak.
