🧵 9/? Travel demand models (TDMs) break a region down into "zones" which could be census blocks or tracts (because this is how population and employment data is organized). The zones emit and receive trips. The road network is broken down into links, which are assigned a capacity, and nodes, which have capacities for each turning movement. Other attributes determine travel time along a path in the network. The model is validated based on existing conditions and real journey travel times.
