okay, trying to get my brain back on track to fix these gremlins once and for all.
unforunately I think that mt76/filogic bug in #OpenWrt where ethernet ports are unstable, gives me 2 options for my #GLiNet GL-MT2500 'Brume 2' router which is currently the router for what I call "ancestralnet," which is what the new-to-me server, and all my legacy VMs, are on.
that router is running OpenWrt 24.10.2, which doesn't have the fixes in it yet. they may well make it into 24.10.3, but I don't have that long to mess around. and, I don't currently have the brainpower to eliminate the second-level routers and have mama router+nas box do it all.
so, I either have to upgrade Brume 2 to OpenWrt snapshot, which involves rebuilding the entire config, or I need to revert to GL.iNet's stock firmware for the time being.
