A country beset by poverty, especially rural poverty, inequality, racism, apartheid, hate, disease (polio, measles, etc.), war, societal upheaval, and so much more. And yet it was a country which decided to dedicate itself to being the first in history to land a human on the Moon, and succeeded in doing so.'
