I've joked before that "AI" coding assistants are like weight loss pills that only work if you exercise and eat healthily.
Some folks might interpret that to mean I think LLMs boost the performance of already-high-performing teams.
But what I'm *really* saying is I believe it's a placebo.
And my position as we hurtle towards 2026 is that if LLMs (ideally smaller OSS community-built ones running on consumer hardware) are what it's gonna take for more teams to work smarter, then so be it.
