You are actually not being specific. Can you name these new features specifically and have you tried filing tickets describing them specifically to see if 110 can get changed to support them? If 110 needs adjustment, let's adjust it. If not, this starts to sound like more rhetoric in favor of just leaving the holes open.
In general, if we can tighten and simplify Bitcoin while supporting EXISTING monetary use cases, that's just responsible software maintenance. If there are specific use cases that are about to launch, maybe support for those could be considered, but the bar should be high. New use cases are new use cases.
