Unpopular opinion: Italian #food is lovable but it is also boring af. It's all about sticking to tradition and cooking the way nonna cooked a hundred years ago. Take the infamous Hawaii pizza: if poor people in Naples had easy access to pineapples two hundred years ago, they would probably put it on pizza with ham and everybody would be happy about it. But they didn't have pineapples (like we do now) so now it is considered a sacrilege.
