I once found a murder mystery novel where the culprit had spiked the victim's canteen with D2O before mountain climbing, the density difference messed up their inner ear and balance, and the victim plummeted to their doom. No idea if that scenario is possible but I'm never going mountain climbing with CERN researchers just out of an abundance of caution.
