One of the beauties of the Fediverse is it's not the USA.
Don't know how many have been through it but the old social media platforms, and the games - MMOs, FPSs, even Discord - everything was dominated by Americans. They ruled the discussion. They controlled the discourse. They owned the narratives.
Maybe it's just being an Oceanian, a tiny fish awash in a sea of US culture. Dunno.
But it is so fucking nice to step away, not having to couch everything in their terms. Fuck them. Come to our narrative. Learn our terms. Bathe in our culture. Or don't.
It's nice.
