At my university there was a particularly eccentric prof - for a taste of his style, on the first day of his first year classes he brought in a $100 bill and offered it to anyone who could give him a beer without leaving the room to fetch it. He taught computer science, but had not personally used a computer in years, after he lost a finger in a farming accident and just never relearned to type with one less finger. He didn't even read his email.
